The Town of Atoka is in the final stages of the 2017 Special Census - a project designed to certify the current population of the town for the purposes of state shared revenue. Door-to-door counts of properties that have yet to respond to the survey will begin on April 4.
Town staff members will begin the door-to-door portion of the 2017 Special Census in Atoka this week. The project, designed to accurately count the current population of the town, has been going on for several weeks through online and mail-out efforts. More than eighty (80) percent of all residential properties in Atoka have responded already - but that still leaves nearly 1,000 residential properties that remain to be counted. Town staff will be working to reach those properties over the next two weeks.
Crews will be going door-to-door during the evening - beginning around 5:30 pm and concluding their work by 8:30 pm. All staff members will be identified by employee uniform or Town employee ID. The Census form should take just a few minutes of your time but will mean a world of difference in funding for the Town over the next several years.
