Welcome Letter from Mayor Barry Akin

On behalf of our community, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to you.  Whether you are a business looking to expand, a family looking to relocate, or a service member whose orders are bringing you to west Tennessee, Atoka is a great place for you to call home.

Atoka, first founded in 1876, is perfectly situated with a small-town community feel and quick access to the Memphis area.  Being just north of the Shelby County line provides Atokans with a comfortable lifestyle and all the opportunities available in a nearby major metropolitan area.

Our elected leadership is engaged in the community, forward-thinking and responsive to the needs of our Town.  We are committed to protecting the quality of life that has spurred Atoka's outstanding growth over the past two decades while moving our community to the next level of excellence.

Atoka is served by the Tipton County school system and home to the Atoka Elementary School – rated #1 in elementary schools in Tipton County.  A quality education system, coupled with a dynamic faith community, outstanding parks and recreational opportunities and safe neighborhoods make Atoka an ideal town for families and for businesses. Safewise.Com and Security Baron have both named Atoka as one of Tennessee’s safest cities and the Nashville Business Journal named Atoka as the most affordable place to live in Tennessee!

If you’re already a part of our community, thank you. If you’re considering relocating your home or business to Atoka -- or simply thinking about a visit -- please do. I am excited for you to explore our community and I hope you'll consider making Atoka your home.

While most everything you’ll need or want to know about Atoka is right here on the Town’s website, our job at Town Hall is to help make you successful, so don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of service.

I look forward to welcoming you to Atoka!

Barry L. Akin
