The proposed low-impact amphitheater project at Pioneer Park has been delayed to a future fiscal year as the Town of Atoka has been approved to shift the project's grant funding to the Walker Park splash pad project. The funds were awarded in 2012 as a part of Atoka's $500,000 Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF) grant.

The proposed low-impact amphitheater project at Pioneer Park has been delayed to a future fiscal year as the Town of Atoka has been approved to shift the project's grant funding to the Walker Park splash pad project.  The funds, awarded as a part of Atoka's $500,000 Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF) grant, would assist in the purchase and installation of a 5,000 square foot splash pad to be constructed as a part of the Walker Park Phase I project.

Along with the grant funds, additional Town capital dollars budgeted in support of the amphitheater project will be reallocated to the project at Walker Park.  New picnic tables, trash cans and grills will be added around the splash pad and under the various shade pavilions to be constructed in the coming months.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen will consider portions of the Walker Park Phase I project at their meeting on March 5, 2013.  The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.  More information about the project is available at www.TownofAtoka.com/WalkerPark
